This is an authentic 100+ year old antique Saya (hatchet sheath), masterfully hand-woven from wild grape vines (Yamabudo) and used by mountain woodsmen in rural Japan.

About Yamabudo (Wild Grape Vine) Crafts: In Japan, items crafted from wild grape vine are extremely rare, highly prized, and expensive due to the difficulty of harvesting the tough, natural vine in deep mountains. Over time, the vine develops a deep, rich luster and dark patina that only age can create.
