This is an authentic Japanese antique/vintage Sashiko Noragi (traditional farmer's work jacket), crafted from hand-spun cotton dyed in an extraordinarily deep, near-black indigo tone.

About Sashiko & Boro Noragi: Noragi were the daily workwear of rural Japan. To reinforce the fabric against cold and heavy labor, farmwomen added dense Sashiko running stitches and patched worn areas over decades. This philosophy of Mottainai (no waste) created these irreplaceable, tactile works of wearable art.
