Vintage Japanese silk Edo-chiri kimono

"Edo-chiri" is an Edo-period Chirimen craft.
"Chirimen" is a traditional Japanese handicraft.

"Edo-chiri" is a richly colored silk fabric with fine irregularities. It has been used as a fabric for Japanese kimonos since the Edo period.
Especially, crepe de chine from the Edo period is called Edo crepe (commonly known as "Edo-chiri"), which is rare in the antique market and is popular, though expensive.

Compared to modern ones, the coloring is more gentle and shiny.

It is made of silk, which was very precious at the time.
The hem of this kimono is filled with cotton. The lining is very cool and looks great when hanked.
This is an expensive kimono with gold threads.
Such gorgeous kimonos are only found in the homes of village chiefs and rich people.

Cranes are a motif of longevity and prosperity.
Pine trees and cranes are motifs that bring good luck.
There is one hole in the tail of the crane, but it is not noticeable(last photo).
