About Boro & Sashiko: Boro textiles are the ultimate expression of the Japanese philosophy of Mottainai (no waste) and Wabi-Sabi. Historically crafted by rural farmwomen, worn household fabrics were layered and reinforced with dense Sashiko running stitches to prolong their life, creating a unique, tactile work of art over decades.
